hopefully as my skills increase, flying minmatar will become less confusing and give me the ability to focus my training.
It's a bloody illusion, don't listen to the whiners they don't know how/refuse to learn to fly the ships properly. They're the best all-round race currently with no actual bad ships at all. They think the Malestroms bad because they haven't flown a Ferox or a Maller. It really is a case of grass is greener with these whiners. My alt trained Minmatar and its quite silly how much more useful she is than my Caldari main.
If you want a good ship to train for go for the Minmatar recons (Rapier/Huginn), completely fantastic ships which have a use in every gang type going. If you want to get in something nice a bit sooner go for the hurricane. It depends what style you like basically, Minnie shield tankers are fast hit and run ships where as the armour tankers are a bit more static. The Tempest is still the fleet staple, if you want a fleet you don't leave home with plenty of Tempests regardless of what these muppets say.

The Maelstrom doesn't require more skills to use than the Rokh and if you think it does then I challenge you to explain how and why. Infact the Rokh needs a whole extra level V gunnery skill (the cap reduction skill) to use effectively. If you're going to start on this line about drones being more important to minmatar then you're taking the ****, they're vital for everyone and slightly more important to the typhoon.
It's basically a misunderstanding, it doesn't take any more skillpoints to fly any minmatar ship other than the Typhoon, you just need armour and shield tanking skills if you want to fly every minmatar ship. You basically lose out on the Hurricane, Tempest and Muninn if you don't train armour tanking skills.

thta's not the point, peopel have allready said you don't need more skills IF you train for one ship.
but any pilot that is using blasters can just move up to the rokr.
basicly minmatar ships needs lots of different skills to use effectly if your going to pilot different ships.
Erm likewise a Minmatar pilot with Missile and drone skills cross trains to caldari or gallente drone ships just as easily as the Caldari gunnery pilots switch to Gallente. It's like the false claim that it takes less skillpoints to use missiles, yes it takes less skillpoints to use one type of missile system and therefore 1 or 2 ships but you still have to train everything if you want to fly the rest of the ships.
It's all false perception.
